Rancho
La Escondida is a family owned and operated cattle ranch in the Burro
Mountains of north-central Coahuila, Mexico.
Within
the 35,000 acres that make up the ranch, elevations
range from 3250 feet at headquarters (at the airstrip)
to about 5500 feet on the mountain-tops.
The
mountains are limestone and the vegetation is made up
of pin-oak and deciduous woodlands and native grasslands.
The
water supply on the ranch comes from numerous small
springs which have been developed in order to provide
water for the needs at headquarters as well as for the
livestock and wildlife.

Our game species
are Carmen Mountain Whitetail deer and
Rio Grande wild turkey.

However,
there are numerous other species of wildlife which offer
magnificent photo opportunities. Some of the more entertaining
of these are Mexican black bear, grey fox and tree and
rock squirrels. Also, there are a great variety of birds:
golden eagles, hawks and falcons; woodpeckers, jays,
bluebirds, cardenals and all kinds of sparrows.
